Who fulfils what, stated plainly.

Boats, beds, guides and permits come from named partners. How they are vetted, and where this site’s responsibility ends.

The short version

How partners are chosen

Crafting a good Komodo snorkeling trip depends on the boats, guides, and local operators involved on the ground in Labuan Bajo. This page explains the categories of partners this guide works with and how they are checked through Our Methodology — it does not list specific named commercial partnerships, since those change frequently and this guide does not publish a claim it cannot stand behind at any given time.

Accommodation

For pre- and post-expedition stays, we recommend properties in Labuan Bajo with current, verifiable reports — ranging from mid-range hotels to five-star beachfront resorts. Ask Komodo Luxury for the current shortlist for your travel dates; we do not publish a fixed list here because availability and quality can change.

Phinisi and yacht charters

Boat selection is the single biggest factor in a Komodo trip’s safety and comfort. We work with a rotating pool of licensed local operators and phinisi/yacht charter companies, checked against safety certification, crew experience, and recent guest feedback before each booking — rather than a fixed, permanent partner roster. We will tell you exactly which vessel and operator is proposed for your dates before you book.

Guides and local operators

On-the-ground guiding — dragon trekking on Rinca and Komodo, snorkel-site selection, ranger coordination — is handled by licensed local guides and park rangers, most of whom are engaged directly through the park authority’s own permit and ranger system rather than through Komodo Luxury. Diving add-ons, where offered, go through PADI/SSI-certified dive operators based in Labuan Bajo.

Government and regulators

Every trip listed here follows the entry permits, quotas, and fees set by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo (the Komodo National Park Authority) under the official PNBP tariff — see our permits & fees guide for the current rates and sources. Boat operations follow standard harbor-master (Syahbandar) safety requirements in Labuan Bajo. We do not claim any special arrangement with these authorities beyond ordinary compliance.

Conservation

We encourage guests to follow no-touch, no-take practices in the park and to support established local and international conservation organizations working on Komodo dragon habitat, coral reef, and manta ray research — we link to their public information where relevant rather than claiming a formal partnership we cannot document.

Questions

What people ask

11 answers, grouped. Pick the set you need.

Do you own the boats listed on this site?

No, we do not own any boats or employ the crews. Komodoislandsnorkeling.com functions as a trusted agent and facilitator, connecting you with a curated network of independent, locally-owned boat operators. Our value lies in our rigorous vetting process, which saves you the time and risk of navigating the market alone, ensuring you are paired with a reliable and professional charter company for your trip into Komodo National Park.

How do you verify a partner’s safety standards?

Our verification focuses on documented compliance and essential equipment. Every partner operator should provide valid operational permits, including the port clearance letter (SPB) for each trip. We also confirm they are equipped with standard safety gear such as life jackets, first aid kits, and reliable communication systems. While we don’t perform our own technical engineering audits, we prioritize partners with a long-standing public record of safe and professional operations.

Is the Komodo National Park entrance fee included in the price?

This varies by operator and package, but it is always clarified upfront. The mandatory government fee is around USD 40–50 per person for foreign visitors and USD 20–25 per person for Indonesian citizens (WNI). These fees are not marked up by this site or KomodoLuxury’s partners. Tour packages will either list this fee as a separate, itemized cost you pay to the operator for them to process via the official SiOra system, or it will be explicitly stated as an inclusion in the total price.

What happens if I have a problem with an operator during my trip?

For immediate issues concerning safety, comfort, or the itinerary, your first and most effective point of contact is the trip leader or captain on the boat. They are empowered to solve problems in real-time. If you have feedback or a concern that you feel was not adequately addressed after the trip, you can contact Komodo Luxury. Komodo Luxury acts as your mediator to help facilitate a resolution with the operator.

Are your partners officially accredited by a tourism board?

Our primary requirement for any partner is full compliance with Indonesian maritime and business laws, including all necessary operational permits to enter Komodo National Park. While many of Komodo Luxury’s partners are active members of local tourism associations, our internal vetting process prioritizes their safety record, guest satisfaction, and legal standing over specific third-party accreditations, which can vary in standard. We focus on the practical delivery of a safe and high-quality experience.

Why don’t you list every boat available in Labuan Bajo?

The selection here is built on quality over quantity. We offer a curated and verified network rather than an open, exhaustive directory. This selective approach ensures that any operator we recommend has met our baseline standards for safety, crew professionalism, and service reliability. This saves travellers from choice paralysis and the risk of booking with an unproven or substandard operator, ensuring a more predictable and enjoyable snorkeling adventure.

Does komodoislandsnorkeling.com handle my payment?

Komodo Luxury facilitates the booking process, but the financial transaction is directly with the boat operator. You will typically pay a deposit of 30-50% to the operator to secure your dates, with the final balance due before your trip. This direct payment model ensures transparency. This guide’s role is to connect you with Komodo Luxury; check that all terms are clear before any payment is made. For general questions about our process, please see the frequently asked questions page.

Are the prices on your site fixed?

The charter prices listed are set by Komodo Luxury’s partners and are generally firm for the stated inclusions. The most common variable is a potential Komodo snorkeling tour fuel surcharge, which may be applied if market fuel prices increase significantly; this would be communicated clearly during your inquiry. Park fees are a fixed government rate. We work with partners to ensure all potential costs are transparently presented before you book.
