Safety & Sustainability

Komodo’s currents are tidal, not seasonal. They run hard on spring tides in April as readily as in October, and no amount of good weather softens them — that is the first thing to understand about safety here. The second is that the park is a working conservation area with real limits: 1,000 visitors a day across the whole park, split into three scheduled sessions, with entry booked in advance through the SiOra e-ticket system since April 2026. These pages cover how to read a current briefing, when a life jacket is simply the sensible choice, what happens if the weather turns mid-crossing, and the reef etiquette that keeps these sites worth visiting at all: reef-safe sunscreen applied early, controlled fins, distance kept from mantas, and nothing taken off the reef.
